How do I get solar screens installed at my property?
Place an order using the sol shades website.
A local licensed contractor will measure your windows to verify dimensions and mounting type.
The product is built and installed within a 4-6 week period.
How long does it take to manufacture and deliver a product? The product arrives at your property fully assembled and ready for installation. Our licensed contractors can handle the installation by adding installation to your cart prior to checkout. Between the time the order is placed and its arrival at your property, we estimate 4-6 weeks.
How can I get a price for a specific product? Visit the shop on our website and quote the size, quantity, and install for pricing. You can also quote multiple sizes by adding additional orders to your cart.
Do you ship internationally? We currently service within 100 miles of DFW, Northwest Arkansas, and West Tennessee.
Maintenance and Warranty
How often do I have to service my window screens? Very rarely do the screens need servicing. Once every 12-24 months, the screens may need cleaning which can be done without removing the screen.
Do your products come with a warranty? Phifer Suntex offers a 10-year limited warranty.
Should solar screens be removed in winter? To protect interior furnishings, solar screens should remain in place. They can be removed if passive solar heat gain is desired.
Are Sun Control Screens easy to clean? Yes, they require only occasional cleaning with mild soap and water and are mildew and fade-resistant.
Can Sun Control Screens be removed to clean the windows? Yes, they are removable for easy cleaning of both screens and window glass.

Do you make custom shapes like arches? Not at this time.
How do I choose the best mounting method for my windows? Mounting options must be compatible with the type of window the screens are installed on. We find the solution that will be most aesthetically pleasing, long-lasting, and easily serviced.
What are the mounting options for frameless solar screens? 3M Dual Lock pads, clips, or screws to mount the screens to the window frame.
When do you use crossbars for solar screens? On screens with sides greater than or equal to 60”, crossbars are used to increase stability.
What’s the difference between 80% and 90% solar screens? 90% solar screens have a tighter weave, blocking more UV rays but offering slightly less visibility than 80% screens. Our solution offers the 80% screen because our customers have found that this is a happy medium between function and aesthetic.
Can frameless solar screens be used on sliding glass doors? Yes, 3M Dual Lock is recommended due to its low profile and ability to be removed. The 3M Dual Lock is similar to an outdoor velcro.
Will the fabric fray after being cut? No, the fabric edges are designed not to fray. Light fibers can be trimmed if necessary.
Does screen color affect heat and light reduction? All colors reduce heat, but dark colors better reduce glare and improve outward visibility.
Do your solar screens have any certifications? Yes, Phifer Suntex screens are GREENGUARD and Microban certified.
Where can I find technical specifications? Technical data sheets for Suntex fabrics are available on our website on the product page under “specifications”
How does exterior shading work? Exterior sun control screens absorb and dissipate solar heat and glare before they reach windows and doors, making indoor temperatures more comfortable and reducing air conditioning costs.
How do Sun Control Screens compare to glass tinting? Sun Control Screens reduce light volume without filtering it, offering better energy savings compared to glass tinting, which maintains heat.
Do Sun Control Screens block airflow? No, they still allow good airflow.
Do Sun Control Screens provide privacy? Yes, they offer daytime privacy by reducing inward visibility when sunlight is stronger outside than inside.
Can Sun Control Screens be used in place of insect screens? Yes, they also offer protection against insects.
How much UV light do Sun Control Screens block? The amount of UV blockage depends on the location of the window, generally blocking 80% of UV light.
